Just like the lotus we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom  out of the darkness and radiate into the world.” – Unknown

Move from a mode of doing, to a mode of non-doing, of simply being.

- Jon Kabat-Zinn

A disciplined mind brings happiness.

"I can't shut my mind off!"

"I already breathe. Why bother?"

"I already breathe. Why bother?"

Never fear. This is normal. Come, us normal human folk will practice.

"I already breathe. Why bother?"

"I already breathe. Why bother?"

"I already breathe. Why bother?"

Our breath is our life force. We have different breaths for each emotion. Watching a horror movie? That gasp is a type of breath. At the beach staring out into the ocean? That full, relaxed sigh? That's a type of breath too. If we don't practice breathing, we can get stuck in bad habits - hyperventilating, holding our breath, short exhales - and create stress. And stress is a major culprit in a variety of physical and mental health problems.

"I don't have time."

"I already breathe. Why bother?"

"I can't sit on the floor."

You and me both. Yet, when I spend the time to sit and breathe, I am more productive, more positive, more open, and more awake to life.

Overworking and lack of self-care is also a sign of stress. Take care of yourself.

It's just an hour a week.

(One less Netflix episode)

"I can't sit on the floor."

"I can't sit on the floor."

"I can't sit on the floor."

No worries! We can arrange for a chair for sitting or a mat for lying down, whatever feels best. There will also be props there to bring to floor to the parts of our body that aren't quite making it there! You can always extra pillows and blankets for props.

"I get distracted."

"I can't sit on the floor."

"But is it religious?"

You are human, YES! The structure of the class is designed to lessen the negative attachment to this phenomenon. The breathing exercise grounds, the guided practice builds safety in discomfort (and acceptance of relaxation), and the unguided practice is an exercise in deepening your connection to your Self.

"But is it religious?"

"I can't sit on the floor."

"But is it religious?"

No. The classes are offered for ALL people, of any faith, religion, creed or spirituality. We are practicing being present and open to our innermost self.

Any teacher, myself included, is just another human being on this path of life.
